Changing the client settings for calendar synchronization is beneficial for several reasons:
1. New synchronization server solution – Sabre server is used by, for example, NextCloud or OwnCloud
2. In addition to the calendar, it also allows address book synchronization
3. Better compatibility with Apple clients
4. Automatic configuration – only an email address and password are required (requires SRV records)
5. The original service will be discontinued in the future
How do I know if I am using the old synchronization server?
In the calendar account settings, the address is https://email.forpsi.com/caldav/mailbox_name
Is it enough to just change the server address in the settings?
Only some clients allow changing the URL of the server for an existing synchronization account
1. CalDAV Synchronizer
- Change DAV URL (1.): email.forpsi.com/caldav/jan@zizkovsky.cz/personal -> syncdav.forpsi.com
- Load calendars: Test or discover settings (2.)

- New synchronization (not necessary)
2. iOS – Manually added calendar
- Settings - the calendar account you are modifying - Account settings

- Advanced settings

- Change Account URL: email.forpsi.com/caldav/jan@zizkovsky.cz/..... -> syncdav.forpsi.com

Other tested clients did not allow changing the synchronization server URL. It is necessary to add a new account and after verification (webmail – new calendar, webmail – old calendar), remove the old calendar.
3. Thunderbird
- New calendar - guide for adding
- To easily distinguish it from the original "old" account, it is advisable to use a different name - Unsubscribe the old calendar (here John Zizkovsky (email.forpsi.com))

4. DAVx5 and OpenSync
- The synchronization client does not allow changing server addresses, so a new account must be added
- New calendar - guide for adding
- The application does not allow two accounts with the same name, so use a different one - Deactivate or delete the old account

- As a bonus, adding an account also enables contact synchronization
5. macOS
- New calendar - guide for adding
- To easily distinguish it from the original "old" account, it is advisable to use a different name - Delete the old account
6. iOS – Calendar added via QR code (configuration profile)
- New calendar - guide for adding
- To easily distinguish it from the original "old" account, it is advisable to use a different name - Remove the old configuration profile: Settings > VPN and Device Management
