CalDAV provides full access to calendar data (read, edit, delete). Getting started consists of activating the synchronization of a specific calendar in webmail and adding the calendar account to Thunderbird. Because Thunderbird has native CalDAV support, there is no need to install any add-on or application.
1. Activate synchronization in webmail
Log in to
webmail and go to the calendar.
In the left menu, select Synchronization (1.)
Click on the tab Sync with CalDAV (2.)
Use the checkbox to select the calendar (3) to synchronize. You can also check multiple calendars (3a), they'll all be added to Thunderbird at once.

Go to the hamburger menu
and select
New account >
Calendar. You can also click the
New Calendar button directly in the calendar
Select the On the network calendar,
Enter the email address and server address copied in the previous section
Continue by clicking Find Calendars, and in the next step of the wizard, enter the password.
Make sure the CalDAV calendar type is selected
Complete the wizard by clicking Subscribe.
3. Scheduling meetings
To manage appointments (events with an invitation), you need to edit the calendar settings.
Show calendar properties by double left-clicking.
Adjust the settings according to the picture.
- choose email: it should be the same as the calendar address
- check: Prefer client-side email scheduling
Click OK to save the settings.
