WordPress: Aruba HiSpeed Cache plugin

Why is it important to use the Aruba HiSpeed Cache plugin?

Using HiSpeed Cache means that dynamic content is stored in the server memory after the first time it is loaded so that it can be returned to the user, enabling them to browse the website in the fastest time possible. This improves both the browsing experience for the user and the website's search engine rating.

The Aruba HiSpeed Cache plugin can only be used if WordPress is active on an FORPSI Hosting platform (Linux, WP Ready).

How the plugin works

Aruba HiSpeed Cache is a plugin that interfaces directly with the HiSpeed Cache service of a FORPSI hosting platform and automates the management of the WordPress dashboard, without having to use the domain control panel.

The plugin works when the HiSpeed Cache service is enabled; activation can take up to 15 minutes, so the message warns you that the cache is not enabled and may be displayed until the process is complete; for more details, please see the guide.

The plugin is designed to empty the cache when dynamic content, such as posts, pages, articles, etc., on your website is updated. Different options for deleting the cache can be selected according to the type of content.

Installing and configuring the plugin

First, you need to check that the domain is hosted on one of the server types mentioned above. There are 2 ways to install the plugin:
  1.  Go to the WordPress dashboard and follow the instructions in this guide to add the plugin, searching for it under the name Aruba HiSpeed Cache;
  2.  Go to wordpress.org and download the Aruba HiSpeed Cache package which should then be displayed via FTP in the "/wp-content/plugins".

Once installed, it should be configured from the WordPress dashboard as follows:

  1. Go to the WordPress dashboard
  2. Click on Plugins -> Plugins installed in the left menu
  3. Click on Enable under the name of the plugin
  4. Click on Settings under the name of the plugin: a page opens displaying the types of dynamic content (articles, comments, etc.) that can be managed and the various options that can be set for each one; once the HiSpeed Cache service is enabled, using the plugin lets you automatically (or manually) delete the cache each time a page or post is updated, speeding up website browsing. The default configuration, leaving the pre-selected options, is recommended.
  5. The Delete cache button, however, deletes the cache from the entire website even if the Enable automatic cache clearing option is not selected.

The image below is an example; the settings vary according to the user's requirements.

To check how the website performance has improved with managing the cache, you need to log out of the WordPress dashboard. Alternatively, you can open a window in private (anonymous) mode or use another browser. This is necessary because, when logged in on the WordPress dashboard, the browser contains a cookie that tells the server not to use the cache.

For verification purposes, the plugin makes calls to the website using the Aruba-ua user-agent. These calls are counted in the website visit statistics (if enabled) but the user can choose to exclude them by identifying them through the user agent.
