Change of the authorization method for selected mail clients

Since the CRAM-MD5 authorization method is considered to be out of date, we are deactivating it on the smtp.forpsi.com server.

Below is an overview of mail clients that support this type of authorization and a guide on how to choose a more reliable method of authorization.

You don't have to do any changes in the email client MS Outlook, because it doesn't support the method of authorization CRAM-MD5.

Thunderbird
Right click on the account name in the left menu and select Settings.
At the bottom right, click the "Edit SMTP server..." button on the "Outgoing server (SMTP):" line.

The setting Authentication Method "Encrypted password is inappropriate.

Select Connection security "STARTTLS", Port "587" and Authentication Method "Normal password".
These settings are correct
Save the settings

Apple Mail

Click Mail and then Preferences from the main menu of Apple Mail.

This will bring up a preferences screen where you should then select the Accounts tab.

eM Client
In eM Client no changes in settings are needed. The client chooses another authorization method by itself, if CRAM-MD5 is not available.

Printers
If you are using the email account for authoriazion on a printer, contact our customer support.

Currently, the configuration of the smtp server smtp.forpsi.com is set up in a way, that it still offers CRAM-MD5 authorization, however it is not available for certain domains. Some printers use a method based on the offered methods of authorization by the smtp server (currently LOGIN, PLAIN and CRAM-MD5). After CRAM-MD5 is not offered by the smtp server smtp.forpsi.com the 4th of August 2021, the printer will instead automatically use the LOGIN or PLAIN method. This affects the following printers
